Milpitas, CA: Brook Furniture Rental is proud to recognize the Housing Industry Foundation (HIF) and its efforts to raise over $225,000 at its annual Summit Fundraiser earlier this month.
The Housing Industry Foundation is a non-profit charity founded in 1989 to help individuals and families either remain in or return to stable housing and to assist with special housing projects or renovations in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties. An industry-based organization, HIF is comprised of and receives support from local companies and individuals, such as apartment owners, builders, realtors, mortgage bankers, accountants, attorneys, insurance companies, furniture rental companies, and other related businesses.
"The HIF is an important organization in the community and we at Brook Furniture Rental are pleased to be able to sponsor this event" said Lauren Castle, Vice President and General Manager of Brook Furniture Rental for the Northern California region, and also Vice President of the Board of Directors of the HIF. "At Brook, we support the goals and mission of the HIF, and its dedication to serving those who have need. We have supported the organization since its inception, and it is personally gratifying to be a part of the HIF team."
"In this tight economy, HIF is receiving more requests for assistance than ever before," said Debbie Wade, Executive Director of the HIF. This year we raised more money than we ever expected. These funds will be used to further HIF's mission of assisting working families in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties who find themselves on the verge of homelessness. The California Apartment Association Tri-County Division (CAA Tri-County) presented a $60,000 donation to HIF for a total of $225,000 raised at the event. The generosity of the housing industry in this uncertain time is truly remarkable."
In the last 20 years, HIF (www.hifinfo.org) has issued grants for direct housing assistance in excess of $3.5 million dollars, preventing over 10,000 households from losing their home. During the same time HIF has invested over $2.0 million to repair and remodel housing units for various community organizations serving low-income and special needs populations. As part of the organization's goal to serve more households, HIF launched a new campaign to raise over $1 million annually by 2011.
With over a dozen locations throughout the state of California, Brook Furniture Rental is the second largest furniture rental company in the United States. The company is focused on meeting and exceeding demanding customer expectations and also partners with organizations such as the HIF to make a positive difference in the local communities in which it operates.
