Fort Worth is the cowboy counterpart to nearby Dallas and its shiny skyscraper skyline. Not that there isn’t plenty of wealth and development in Ft. Worth, but the city is proud of its heritage. This is evident in neighborhoods like the Fort Worth Stockyards, a National Historic District home to Stockyards Station.

The nearby Cultural District has the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, the Kimball Art Museum, and the Amon Carter Museum. The area experienced a boom in the construction of new housing and business in recent years, with mixed-use developments including the Museum Place and Montgomery Plaza projects. Fort Worth’s Cultural District is a showpiece for the urban renaissance that downtown has experienced in recent years.

As long as you aren’t a vegetarian, you will eat like a king in Fort Worth. Incredible BBQ is everywhere you look, and they’re practically giving away the crawfish and blue crab.

Sundance Square is a section of downtown that is beloved by architecture buffs for its many art deco buildings. The Fairmount Historic District, otherwise known as Near Southside, is an up-and-coming area full of historic buildings, cool boutiques, restaurants, and bars like Rahr & Sons Brewing Company.

Texas Christian University brings a lot to the city, but nothing is more appreciated by locals than the school’s Division I athletics. The TCU Horned Frogs are consistently rated one of the top college football and basketball teams in the nation.
